The Students’ Home is
part of the Ramakrishna Mission with Headquarters in Belur, Howrah
Dt, West Bengal. The Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission
are the twin organizations created by the Sannyasin disciples
of Sri Ramakrishna, who was born in 1836 and attained an exalted
state of spiritual illumination. Before he left his mortal coils
in 1886, he gathered a band of young Sannyasin disciples dedicated
to the pursuit of the ideals propounded by him.

The basic tenets of Sri Ramakrishna’s
teachings are:
- There is but One God, by whatsoever name He
may be called.
- All religions are equally valid and are but
several paths leading to the same goal.
- There is Divinity in all human beings and Service
to Humanity is Service to God.

INSPIRATION:
Sri Ramakrishna Himself exemplified
his concern for the poor and neglected people. During a pilgrimage
he undertook, he insisted that their needs should first be met
before he could proceed further on the pilgrimage.

The Holy Mother, His divine consort,
was an embodiment of kindness to fellow beings and enjoyed, from her
very young age, serving the poor. |

Swami Vivekananda, the foremost among the monks of Ramakrishna order
said “They alone live who live for others, the rest are more dead
than alive”.
“The only service to be done for our lower classes is to give
them education, to develop their lost individuality”.
“All love is life; it is the only law of life; all
selfishness is death, and this is true here or hereafter”.
“It is life to do good, it is death not to do good to others”.
“Feel my children, feel; feel for the poor, the ignorant,
the down trodden; feel, till the heart stops and the brain reels
and you think you will go mad – then pour the soul out at
the feet of the Lord, and then will come power, health and indomitable
energy”. |
